What the site covers
The guides here cover the whole path from a blank sheet to a card in an envelope:
- Making a first card, from choosing paper to writing the message.
- Six simple folds with diagrams of each one.
- Pop-up cards using the box step and the beak.
- Envelopes folded from a single square.
- Materials, from paper weights to which glue to use.
- Crafts by age, with how much help to give.
- Safety with scissors, glue and small parts.
- Card ideas for birthdays, thank-yous, holidays and more.
How we write the guides
Every project uses ordinary materials that most homes and schools already have: paper, card stock, crayons, markers, glue sticks and child scissors. We describe the steps in the order a child would do them and mark clearly which parts need an adult.
The fold diagrams are drawn from the same small set of line types on every page, so once a child learns to read one, they can read them all. Valley folds are blue dashes, mountain folds are red dash-dots, cuts are solid black lines and creases are gray dots.
Ages on this site are rough ranges. Children develop at their own pace, and the adult who knows the child is the best judge of what they can manage.
What we do not do
- We do not sell cards, printing, templates, kits or craft supplies.
- We do not recommend or rank brands, and we have no partner or affiliate links.
- We do not give medical advice. The safety page offers general tips and points you to your doctor or poison control center for anything more.
- We do not collect children's photos, names or artwork.
A note on safety
Paper crafts carry small risks: scissors, small parts that toddlers might swallow, and adult tools like hot glue and craft knives. Every guide marks the adult-only steps, and the safety page brings the advice together in one place. Always follow the age guidance and directions printed on craft products.
Using the guides at school or home
Teachers, parents, grandparents and caregivers are welcome to use these guides with children. You can print a page for your own use at home or in a classroom. Please link to the site rather than copying pages to another website.
Corrections
If you spot a step that does not work, or a diagram that is unclear, we want to fix it. Paper behaves a little differently from sheet to sheet, so tell us what you used and where the fold went wrong. Write to contact@kiddicards.com. The privacy page explains how we handle email.
